Have a Million Mile Scream this October
While vampires might be Halloween folklore, plastic pollution can haunt our beaches, streets and green spaces for generations. That’s why we’re calling on communities across the UK to join the Million Mile Scream as part of the Big Autumn Clean (24th Oct – 1st Nov). Together, we’ll clean up litter, collect vital evidence, and send the plastic monster running for cover.
What is the Million Mile Clean?
Now the biggest initiative of its kind in the UK, the Million Mile Clean is an annual action bringing Ocean Activists together to tackle plastic pollution head on. It’s easy to join in and open to everyone, wherever you live and however much you can do, there’s free kit, insurance and all the guidance you need to run a clean, or you can join cleans already happening across the UK.
Here’s how you can join the fight:
🕸️ Host a clean – Register your event and add MILLION MILE SCREAM to the title. We’ll provide a free litter-picking kit for up to 30 volunteers, plus insurance and promotion.
🦇 Join a clean near you – check the map to find public cleans happening in your area.
🎭 Dress up & win prizes! Enter our spooky competitions: Best Dressed, Spookiest Find, and Best Million Mile Scream Photo for your chance to win a Hydro Flask
🍬 Log your litter – Every wrapper, bottle and piece of plastic you tally, and record helps to power our citizen science data and strengthen the evidence we use to hold polluters accountable.
Every piece collected. Every item logged. Every volunteer involved.
Together, we’re turning every spooky sweet wrapper into undeniable evidence – proof that we need action NOW.
